By setting up the feature on BambooHR, new hires at a company receive an email with all relevant information and training documents. Due to this, managers can save a lot of time on-boarding time and the new resource can quickly add their information onto the system and spend the remaining time to interact with the other employees. 

Role-based access to information

Following the concept of traditional HR management, this well-integrated platform provides role-based access to information. The main figures in the system are administrators and managers who are in charge of delegating competence to other users listed on their dashboard. It is exactly them who will be responsible for creating employee profiles and inserting all related information in their portfolios. The Employee section is placed right next to the Job Opening sections, joining a list of other tabs such as My Info, Files, and Reports. Basically, this system makes it possible to use your account and manage corporate activities from the very same eye-pleasant dashboard.

Efficient Administering

The centralized database contains the benefits for each employee and allows the manager to track them down no time. There is an overall number of 12 benefit types applicable to all groups of employees, and it is employees who can change them upon every update in their status (health insurance, marriage, and much more). What is impressive here is that Bamboo HR offers a modifiable rate health plan, meaning that the user can easily track even age-based plans, and calculate automatically the variable amounts his employees have to pay. For the same operation, companies can choose third-party programs that are integrated with the system.

Pros and cons

  • BambooHR is great for the core service it provides – an HRIS. It is simple to set-up, easy to enroll employees, self-serve features work well and everything is quite intuitive.
  • User interface is nice. It’s simple to use and allows you to easily see who in the organization is on vacation, etc. It’s always easy to upload documents.
  • Covers the basics and then some, with a well-organized, clean design. 
  • Stripped down performance management module works the way more companies are running employee reviews. 
  • Open API makes it easy to integrate with existing people resource tech vendors.

  • Priced higher than many competitors. Doesn’t include the benefits administration offered by its alternatives

A well-trained support team is always available on the phone or email to solve customer queries and technical difficulties related to the software. Live chat with tech agents is not available, but that shouldn’t discourage you from testing the speed of their alternative communication channels. Another good thing Bamboo’s team will do for you is to supply you with news and training materials, so that you will always remain in line with the system’s improvement.

Technical support is a huge plus point when it comes to BambooHR, which helps companies recruit, motivate and manage employees faster. For payment period change reports, nevertheless, BambooHR still relies on third-party integrations.

Easy to use system that allows central tracking and reporting of most employee information.

BambooHR has been really helpful in storing and reporting on employee information, giving employees access to view their benefit and personal information, and I can't rave enough about the Applicant Tracking feature. As a one person HR department, BambooHR has allowed me to become a strong, communicative and organized recruiter in the midst of the million other things I do.

  • The system is user friendly and can be customized in a lot of ways. You can report on any information in the system, with easy to use standard reports, or you can create your own. They constantly add features and make improvements based on customer feedback. In some cases, they can make requested changes immediately
  • It is only as good as the data you enter, and does not currently integrate with the other systems we use. So, it requires constant data maintenance to keep employee information up to date, for effective reporting. There's no seamless automation for benefit enrollment. The time off system is easy to use, but does not currently show enough detail to be useful for our needs. I hope that BambooHR will focus on automating the integration of information from other systems, and provide a simpler update of benefit plan information at year end.
