Yosuke Matsuda’s pushes for autonomous game content

Yosuke Matsuda has given a detailed understanding of how Square Enix will make the most of blockchain in an interview.

Matsuda said that conventional game development, particularly in the Japanese market is not enough for the company. He added that he is looking to leverage the power of autonomous game content to develop games that will evolve. Besides, he wants to use blockchain technology to provide incentives for user-generated content.

Matsuda told Yahoo Japan that the company is interested in exploring the possibility of offering ‘autonomous game content.’ He said that until now, the content was provided by the company in almost all games and the players played that content.

However, the trend is gradually changing. There are multiple players around the world who want to contribute to the development by using advanced technologies including blockchain.

There is a huge window of opportunity of creating creative and innovative content by using ideas given by users.

The recent uproar over Matsuda’s views on blockchain and NFT

Matsuda’s comments come shortly after he shared a New Year’s letter which sparked a controversy.

In the letter, Matsuda expressed that blockchain and NFT technology are likely to become a huge trend in the gaming industry. He also said that these two areas have tremendous growth potential for gaming in 2022, including AI, blockchain, and cloud games.

These games are primarily developed on the promise of a token economy and thus have the potential to facilitate self-sustaining game growth.
