Salesforce Launches New Toolkit to Assist Developers Create Slack Applications

Salesforce, the American cloud-based software firm has rolled out a new toolkit that enables developers to build custom applications for Slack. The new solution, Salesforce Platform for Slack will help nearly 11 million Salesforce developers to integrate automations and functionalities from Salesforce into the project management software. 

Salesforce Platform for Slack was introduced at the Salesforce’s developers conference held in San Francisco. The news has come just a few months after the CRM player acquired Slack for around $27.7 billion last July.

New integration simplify life for Salesforce developers

According to Salesforce, the new platform will significantly increase the number of developers who can create Slack applications and workflows in Salesforce. The platform will also allow them to use familiar coding tools and languages to make life easier. 

The adoption of the newly launched tool is expected to be high as more and more SMBs are using project management tools to minimize costs and boost productivity. 

The recent developments also come with updates to Salesforce Flow for Slack, which will allow developers to develop Slack-first automations that can handle Salesforce actions and data using low code. 

In addition, the announcement also comes with updates to the APEX SDK for Slack. This enables developers to design and create for Slack in Salesforce’s Apex language. At this stage, there is a host of Salesforce for Slack applications in the pipeline that will launch into beta. This includes Sales Cloud for Slack, a solution that automates deal status updates for the sales department. It also helps users to find records in Salesforce for pipeline analytics. 

Another application, Service Cloud for Slack automatically assigns service cases to team members as they flow in. This provides an opportunity for different teams to bring in the best of the best to resolve customer issues. In addition, the Marketing Cloud for Slack will allow different teams to work together and execute their marketing campaigns. 

Applications in beta

Flow in Slack is projected to be available in beta in June 2022 and become available in October 2022. In addition, APEX SDK for Slack is likely to pilot in June 2022 and will be available in February 2023. 

Service Cloud, Sales Cloud for Slack, and Marketing Cloud for Slack are currently in beta and are expected to be available in June this year. 

Going by the current trends, we will see a lot of companies use communication solutions such as Slack to facilitate seamless project management and communication.
