According to Downdetector, Instagram users around the world were experiencing problems with the app. Nearly 47% of users were not able to use the mobile application, 27% reported problems with the web version, and 26% had connection issues. Although the website indicates that the problem has been fixed, some users are still facing problems.
Over the past few months, similar outages have been reported. Due to the recent Akamai DNS outage, a number of high-traffic websites went offline. In June this year, Reddit users were experiencing problems with the social news aggregation website.
These outages have brought out contrasting reactions from users, especially on social media. While some did not mince their words to express their frustration, others resorted to memes and GIFs to put their point across.
