Hewlett Packard Enterprise (HPE) announced that it has acquired query acceleration platform Ampool. HPE also revealed plans to integrate Ampool’s cloud-based SQL analytics platform into its Ezmeral software platform.
Both the companies did not disclose the financial details of the deal. However, Ampool has managed to raise an impressive amount of $400,000 since its inception in 2015.
Anand Chintamaneni, GM and VP of HPE Ezmeral said that Ampool will play an integral role in boosting HPE Ezmeral analytics runtime for interactive SQL workloads.

How Does This Deal Help HPE?
Ampool Engine, Ampool’s SQL accelerator, acts as an access layer in between large distributed data sets and business intelligence solutions such as Looker, Tableau, and Looker.
Ampool Engine streamlines these workloads by using in-memory data caching and also supports a gamut of data sources. Some of the data sources include on-premise, cloud-based, third-party software-as-a-service apps such as Salesforce.
Ampool Engine, which is now under the Ezmeral banner will also be integrated into HPE’s GreenLake solution, a pay-as-you-go, cloud-based IT portfolio.
The deal also means that Ampool will bring its team of engineers and experience at LinkedIn Corp., Yahoo!Inc., and Veritas Technologies LLC. Ampool has also been a core participant in multiple projects such as Presto/Trino, Apache Ranger, Apache Spark, and Apache Geode.
According to HPE, the company will combine these capabilities with Ezmeral’s software.
The acquisition of Ampool will address a range of bottlenecks linked to cloud-native architectures.
What is HPE Ezmeral?
HPE Ezmeral is HPE’s response to Red Hat’s OpenShift Kubernetes and VMware’s Tanzu platforms.
Ezmeral enables customers to distribute and containerize applications across different infrastructures such as private clouds, virtual machines, bare metal, and more.
Kumar Sreekanti, Head of Software, HPE, said that the HPE Ezmeral accelerates data-driven digital transformation within organizations by modernizing outdated applications, automating operations, and getting insights.
