Nextgen, the Sydney-based software distributor announced that it has been appointed as an AWS Distributor and AWS Public sector partner in Australia and New Zealand.
Nextgen primarily started its journey as an Oracle house. Prior to this deal, Nextgen already recognized itself as an AWS Consulting Partner. The new development will enable Nextgen to expand its partner network and product offering and strengthen its foothold in the market.
The timing of the agreement coincides with the growth in the adoption of cloud services among businesses of all sizes. According to industry analysts, cloud adoption in Australia is growing rapidly at a Compound Annual Growth Rate (CAGR) of nearly 24%. [1]
What does the new deal mean for Nextgen?
As a result of the newly inked deal, Nextgen will predominantly work together with AWS partners that focus on supporting education, healthcare, not-for-profit, and government sectors across Australia and New Zealand.
The AWS Distributor status and membership with Amazon’s Distribution Program opens up new opportunities for Nextgen. It allows Nextgen to recruit and enable systems integrators (SIs), value-added resellers (VAR), managed service providers (MSPs), and more to provide AWS services to end-users.
One of the key areas Nextgen will prioritize under the new agreement is higher education.
Nextgen Group CEO, John Walters said that Nextgen has widened its capability across the education sector and will focus on developing a well-connected network of software vendors, partners, and technology providers to cater to student management, research, and business operations solutions. Mr. Walters also said, “ We aim to modernize, optimize and leverage the latest cloud technologies to help our partners and customers to continue to innovate and build resiliency in order to bounce back from disruptions as a result of the pandemic.”
More about Nextgen’s partnership with AWS
According to Walters, Nextgen has been working on this collaboration with AWS for a couple of years. Since AWS is one of the biggest players in the public cloud landscape, it was an easy decision to partner with AWS.
The new deal has not come without heavy investment from Nextgen. Currently, Nextgen has set its eyes on developing a spectrum of tools and platforms to complement its AWS go-to-market activities.
The agreement with AWS also comes at a time when Nextgen has signed a new global collaboration agreement with Ingram Micro Cloud.
